Every contending team in the NBA needs an offensive engine.
That means a player a team can build their attack around. With that said, there’s a balance to strike. A team shouldn’t rely too heavily on that engine for its success.
Some would argue the Atlanta Hawks have done exactly that with Trae Young.
On the other hand, others may hold that their shortcomings this season owe to his questionable fit alongside backcourt mate Dejounte Murray.
By contrast, the Brooklyn Nets no longer have an engine. After a flurry of blockbuster moves, they’re left with a deep cast of elite defenders and shooters, but no primary playmaker.
Could they pry Young from the Hawks this summer?
