Of course, the Nets were supposed to have a supercharged offense. Not too long ago, they had two engines – and Kevin Durant. 

The concept was simple. James Harden would make plays for himself and others, Kyrie Irving would make plays for himself (and occasionally others) and Durant would simply score. It should have been a formula for success. 

It wasn’t. Perhaps egos got in the way. Regardless, none of the star trio reside in Brooklyn any longer. 

It’ll be interesting to see how this team’s season plays out. There is a lot of talent in Brooklyn, but not a lot of playmaking. If that proves too significant an obstacle, they may rebuild this season.

By contrast, if they make a spirited playoff run, they may be buyers in the offseason.
