Why The New York Knicks Do The Deal 

Well, the Knicks are using the inverse logic here. They’re acquiring Bogdanovic because he’s more impactful than Barrett right now. 

Of course, his ceiling is lower. Barrett is still developing, while Bogdanovic could age out of his prime any time now. His production this season has been surprising in light of his age. 

By contrast, Barrett has been somewhere between acceptable and disappointing. This deal has the Knicks cutting ties with his potential – that’s why they’re getting a first-round pick in addition to the veteran Bogdanovic. 

This deal should still make them better next season. Adding one of the best floor spacers in the NBA to this already-winning core should make for a potent offense.
