Why The Detroit Pistons Do The Deal

One thing feels certain: the Pistons will move Bey this summer if that deal is overturned. 

At this point, the relationship has to be compromised. The Pistons traded Bey. Whether he’s back on the roster or not, he’ll be aware of that fact. 

Why not replace him with Barrett? They’re both wings of a similar size in a similar age bracket. Meanwhile, Barrett has flashed more potential with advanced playmaking and defence. 

If the Pistons have reservations here, they’ll come down to losing Bogdanovic. In all likelihood, they’re looking to take a step forward next year, and he’s a more impactful player than Barrett right now.

On the other hand, this deal gives them a long-term core they can work with.
