Sometimes, a trade rumor can be a self-fulfilling prophecy. 

Sure, NBA players know that they can get traded. It’s part of the business. Most of these guys are living their dreams, and this is the cost of doing business. 

On the other hand, if those rumors persist for long enough, they can get to players. These are human beings.
Regularly reading that you’re going to have to find a new home soon is surely grating on somebody.

With that in mind, John Collins must be exhausted. He’s been at the forefront of rumors for years. At this point, the Hawks should probably move him just to stop delaying the inevitable.
