Why The Charlotte Hornets Do The Deal 

The Hornets are getting the best player in this trade. Some will argue that they win the deal automatically by virtue of that fact. 

Perhaps. At the same time, Collins’ contract is large. That’s likely why the Hawks are looking to move him. If the Hornets are acquiring him, he needs to be a good fit with their roster. 

Luckily, he is. Collins is an ideal replacement for Miles Bridges. He’s also a replacement for P.J. Washington if he departs in free agency. He’s the type of play finisher that will thrive alongside a playmaker like LaMelo Ball. 

On the other hand, if the Hornets retain Washington and bring Bridges back, all of these players can co-exist.
