First of all, let me clarify something for you. It is important to understand that Irving does not have the same trade value that a player of his age, with his level of talent, would normally have. 

As you may be aware, this is the guy who requested a trade in order to get away from LeBron James. Then, he followed that up with a request for a trade with the highly talented Boston Celtics team. As of now, he is looking to leave the Nets. 

A caveat comes with Irving’s acquisition: he can request a trade at any time if he wants to do so. It is safe to say that the Nets could do much worse than this package in the long run. 

There is no doubt that Paul may be in decline, but he is still a productive player. It is possible that he could keep the Nets in title contention if he has the right chemistry with Durant.

Johnson, on the other hand, is an excellent 3-and-D wing. It is expected that he will be able to extend his contract this summer, and this deal gives the Nets the chance to retain him for an extended period of time.
