Why The Toronto Raptors Do The Deal 

 If we’re willing to assume that reports about Anunoby’s asking price are accurate, the next question is whether this deal meets it. 

We think it does – roughly, at least. The Raptors may have had better prospects in mind, but that’s why they’re getting two first-round picks instead of one here. 

At the same time, both of the young players they’re receiving have potential. Martin is an elite run-and-jump athlete who can space the floor and guard multiple positions. Meanwhile, guarding multiple positions is Garuba’s specialty. He’s a tenacious, versatile defender who needs a lot of polish on the offensive end. 

Still, the draft capital is key for Toronto here. Granted, neither of these picks may land in the lottery – we know Milwaukee’s won’t. On the other hand, the Nets will likely be back on combustion watch if they fail to make a deep playoff run this year.
