Of course, every point guard isn’t necessarily a “point guard” in the traditional sense. 

Some point guards are shorter NBA players with value to offer on an NBA floor. They may not be built to orchestrate an offense, but they can still line up at the point guard position. 

That’s a somewhat accurate description of Patrick Beverley. Sure, he can function as a ball-handler in the pick-and-roll.

Still, everyone knows that his defense has been what’s kept him on an NBA floor.
