The point guard is responsible for controlling a team’s flow. They’re the orchestrator of the offense. Even with the league trending towards score-first point guards, that holds true.
With some exceptions, of course. LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers is a combo forward, but he orchestrates the offense.
Perhaps that’s why he’s struggled to fit in with Russell Westbrook.
On the other hand, Kyle Lowry of the Miami Heat used to be an outstanding point guard. At 36, he’s lost a step. Still, he offers value as a floor spacer and a defender.
Could he end up on the Lakers this season?
