Why The Detroit Pistons Do The Deal 

There’s definitely some fat to trim here. 

The Pistons do this deal for Williams, Pritchard, and a first-round pick. Even then, with Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey, and Killian Hayes on the roster, they may not find much use for Pritchard. 

At the same time, all of those guards are playmakers with questionable jump shots. Pritchard is an elite floor spacer.

If the Pistons went on to trade Hayes down the road, Pritchard would be a nice addition.

Even still, Williams and a first-rounder is a good return for Bogdanovic. He’s a versatile defender who spaces the floor well.
