Why The Miami Heat Do The Deal
Remember what we said about bad contracts being assets? We were talking about Duncan Robinson – and Davis Bertans.
The Heat don’t do this deal to acquire Bertans. Granted, they’ve got space in their rotation at the 4. He will see spot minutes. Still, this is mostly about Hardaway Jr.
This Heat team could badly use another shooter. Robinson has lost his way in this rotation due to his defensive limitations, but the Heat haven’t made up his spacing.
Adding Hardaway allows them to do so. Finally, Bullock is having a rough season, but he could benefit from a change of scenery.

Even if he doesn’t, he’s an an expiring deal. That makes his contract an asset.
