Yes, the Celtics have had tremendous success over the last couple of years. Last season’s NBA Finals run was apparently not a fluke. 

At the same time, the Celtics ran into a problem in the Finals. Their lack of a reliable primary ball handler cost them games against the Golden State Warriors. 

Sure, they acquired Malcolm Brogdon to remedy that problem. That was a good decision. At the same time, Brogdon is, to put it politely, not Trae Young. 

This deal has the Celtics adding one of the best ball-handlers and playmakers in the NBA. Meanwhile, this team’s platoon of versatile defensive bigs should allow them to cover for Young’s limitations on defense.

Following this deal, the Celtics should have a better chance of returning to the Finals – and actually winning them this time.
