Why The Brooklyn Nets Do The Deal 

There is some risk involved for the Nets here. They’re parting with their best center in Claxton. 

That shouldn’t be enough to dissuade them. Imagine a lineup featuring Kuzma, Ben Simmons, Durant, and Kyrie Irving. Does it even matter who the fifth player is? 

Day’Ron Sharpe should suffice. Perhaps Simmons can play the five, and they can insert Seth Curry into the lineup. For that matter, there should be veteran replacements on the buyout market. 

In other words – we’re not concerned. Kuzma is having a breakout season. Adding a fringe star to a team that already has so much star power could give the Nets the best offense in the NBA.

That’s well worth creating a problem at the five that feels easily solved.
