It’s interesting. Typically, you tank to acquire a franchise-altering talent. Yet, in this case, the team that already has one is the one tanking. 

Obviously, we’re talking about LaMelo Ball. He’s one of the most creative playmakers in basketball. If he’d been healthy to begin 2022-23, the Hornets might be in a different situation. 

On the other hand, the Knicks have far surpassed expectations this year.

Yet, they don’t roster a player with nearly as much natural talent as Ball.
