As soon as this Los Angeles Lakers’ front office hears the phrase “blow it up”, they ought to rush to the phone. 

After all, this team is also underperforming – without a first-round pick to show for it. Meanwhile, Anthony Davis’ recent injury doesn’t help their short-term outlook. The Lakers need help. 

This deal brings it on. Nikola Vucevic can be a replacement for Davis until he gets healthy, and they can co-exist once he returns. Meanwhile, DeRozan provides secondary playmaking while spacing the floor – at least more than Westbrook does. 

At the same time, the Lakers could reject this deal on several grounds. Vucevic is a weak defender – he won’t be a perfect replacement for Davis.
