Some NBA players are easier to evaluate than others.
Giannis Antentokounmpo. LeBron James. Luka Doncic. These are stars. Anyone who says otherwise is someone you should not listen to moving forward.
Other players aren’t so clearly defined. They may appear to be stars at times, but they’re not franchise-altering talents like the above names, either.
For example: is Deandre Ayton a star? Granted, he was the number one pick in the 2018 draft. That doesn’t mean he should have been.
As a matter of fact, it’s appeared that the Suns are well-aware that they may have been mistaken in using that pick on Ayton.
Could they send him to the New York Knicks?
