Why The New York Knicks Do The Deal 

We know that the Knicks are interested in trading for a star. They almost made a move for Donovan Mitchell this summer. 

Of course, this all doubles back to the original conversation about stardom. Ayton’s status is unclear. In other words, this deal has the Knicks taking a leap of faith. 

It is fair to say that Ayton has a more polished offensive game than Robinson. He’s roughly equal in the pick-and-roll, but he’s more proficient in face-up situations and has more moves on the low block as well. 

Furthermore, the Paul argument goes both ways. We’ve never seen Ayton without Paul.

He may suffer, but on the other hand, he may have some tools that he doesn’t get the opportunity to display in Phoenix. 

If so, Ayton may be a star waiting to be born.
