Why The Houston Rockets Do The Deal 

This is not the return most Rockets fans would want for Gordon. It does not include a first-round pick. 

That’s probably a pipe dream by now. Gordon is 34 – surrendering a future asset for him won’t be desirable for most teams. Allen could still be a useful player for the Rockets. 

After all, the Rockets start sending their first-round picks to the Oklahoma City Thunder after this season. They’ll have some incentive to improve in 2023-24. Allen could help them do exactly that. 

Specifically, they should probably be in the market for Jalen Green’s backup. Reckless play has found Josh Christopher out of the rotation.

He may not be ready for a play-in push in 2023-24, but Allen will be. In fact, he could be the new adult in the room for the Rockets.
