In theory, any team would like to land a prospect like Wembanyama or Henderson. Of course, some teams don’t have a chance at doing so. 

For example, take a team like the Los Angeles Lakers. At 2-8, they’d probably be thinking about trading LeBron James by now – if they owned their first-round pick. Instead, the New Orleans Pelicans are hoping they continue to slide in the standings. 

By contrast, a team like the Milwaukee Bucks won’t be tanking either. They already have a generational talent in Giannis Antetokounmpo.

At 9-1, they’re focused on the NBA championship.

Then, you’ve got the Miami Heat. They were supposed to be in that same tier of teams who would be too good to tank. At 4-7, it would be hard to say that about them so far.
