Why The Miami Heat Do The Deal
It certainly hasn’t been a lack of talent plaguing the Heat this season. Could it be a lack of size?
After all, Miami has been running Jimmy Butler at the 4. In itself, that doesn’t have to be an issue: we’ve seen wing-heavy lineups have some success in this league.
On the other hand, with the undersized Bam Adebayo in the middle, the Heat may be a little too small.
Olynyk helps in that regard. The Heat could put him at the 4, and suddenly, they’d have plus size again. They can still field small-ball looks, but adding Olynyk would increase their optionality.
Best of all, he doesn’t compromise their spacing in the process. Moreover, Olynyk is a great passer: between him and Adebayo, the Heat would have one of the best 5/4 playmaking duos in the NBA.
