Why The Washington Wizards Do The Deal 

Anthony Davis may have lost a step. He’s still the best player in this trade. 

For starters, he’s a vastly superior inside scorer than Porzingis. Even if he’s a less reliable floor spacer, that counts. Moreover, his inability to shoot would matter less on the Wizards. 

After all, they feature spacing at every other position. There is no Russell Westbrook here (anymore). By adding Davis, the Wizards can maintain four-out spacing, with a lethal scoring threat on the inside. 

Most significantly, Davis is a vastly better defender than Porzingis.

They may be equals in rim protection, but even a compromised version of Davis is more mobile. He can hunt as a weak side shot blocker and free safety while also locking down the interior.
