Why The Phoenix Suns Do The Deal
Apparently, Crowder’s discontent with the Suns stems from having lost his starting spot. Hopefully, that won’t be an issue for Barnes. After all, they’re not likely to offer him one, either.
Each of this team’s starting spots is spoken for. Cam Johnson has emerged as one of the best shooters in the NBA. Meanwhile, Mikal Bridges may be the best 3-and-D wing in the NBA.
None of which means Barnes couldn’t find a way to contribute to the Suns.
In fact, Phoenix could use a sixth man. Barnes may not be a traditional one, but as a combo forward, he could find ample minutes in this rotation at both forward spots. If he could improve this second unit’s offensive production in the process, that would be helpful.

Moreover, he’s probably more qualified for the role than Crowder. After all, Crowder is the better defender, but Barnes, even on the decline, remains a more dynamic offensive player.
Finally, acquiring Barnes at the cost of two players who aren’t even in their rotation is a no-brainer for the Suns. Is he someone the Kings should be parting with?
