In fact, it wasn’t long ago that the Nets seemed to have formed the next great superteam. When they added James Harden to a roster featuring Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, we assumed they’d be a juggernaut.
On the other hand, the addition of Russell Westbrook to the Lakers wasn’t always an obviously strong move. From the moment the Lakers added him, people questioned his fit alongside LeBron James.
Still, adding a former MVP alongside a championship-winning duo in James and Anthony Davis was supposed to look better than this.

All told, both of these teams have fallen well short of expectations. Despite playing in two of the biggest markets in the NBA, and rostering plenty of stars, they’ve both been disappointing in 2022-23.
