Brooklyn Nets Receive: G/F Will Barton, F Kyle Kuzma, F Corey Kispert, F Anthony Gill
Washington Wizards Receive: G/F Ben Simmons
Simmons, to be sure, is somewhat complicated. Let’s elaborate.
He’s definitely remarkably talented. Simmons is one of the best defenders in the NBA. He’s one of the league’s best passers, too. Unfortunately, Simmons doesn’t shoot. Like, at all.
We’ve seen lead ball handlers with shooting limitations succeed. In his prime, Russell Westbrook was an MVP winner in spite of his poor shooting.
At the moment, Ja Morant is equally functional. Still, neither of them is completely unwilling to shoot like Simmons.

That unwillingness can put Simmons’ team at a functional deficit. Sometimes, it destroys the rhythm of his team’s possession – Simmons passes up on wide-open looks.
More alarmingly, defences can pack the paint against Simmons, dare him to shoot, and live with the results.
Should the Wizards target such a talented, but limited player?
