In some ways, you’ve got to feel bad for former NBA All-Star Ben Simmons.
It’s easy to forget by now, but not so long ago, Simmons’ name was one of the most exciting in basketball.
As the number one pick in the 2016 NBA draft, Simmons was highly anticipated. His floor vision combined with his defensive potential gave him the profile of a significant player at the NBA level.
In all fairness, he’s been one. Moreover, Simmons’ floor vision and defensive ability proved to be legitimate. Unfortunately, he also has some fatal flaws that have kept him from reaching his potential.

Meanwhile, his Brooklyn Nets don’t appear built to compensate for those flaws. At 2-6, they may need to make some difficult decisions soon.
