Why The Washington Wizards Do The Deal 

If Simmons is going to reach his potential, he needs a team that’s built to maximize his abilities. 

The Wizards could potentially be that team. For starters, they roster Kristaps Porzingis. He’s exactly the type of stretch big man who should allow Simmons to function. With four-out spacing, Simmons doesn’t necessarily need to shoot. 

Furthermore, the Wizards could use a point guard. Monte Morris is a good player, but he’s probably more of a lead reserve than a starter. By contrast, Simmons is certainly qualified for a starting role in spite of his faults. 

At 4-4, the Wizards could go in a number of directions right now. They could downgrade in an attempt to maximize their lottery odds.
