Why The Toronto Raptors Do The Deal 

If the Raptors want to continue with their wing-heavy brand of basketball, we don’t blame them. 

At the same time, the returns have been relatively modest. The Toronto Raptors were the 5th seed last season and got eliminated in the first round. That’s a fine season, but shouldn’t they strive for more? 

If Davis can just stay healthy, this deal should make them better. After all, he’ll provide exactly the type of rim protection and general inside presence this team has been lacking. In other words, he’ll provide them with a star big man. 

Moreover, a defense anchored by Davis featuring Pascal Siakam at the 4 and Scottie Barnes at the 3 should be impossible to score against.

Granted, the spacing won’t be elite, but at least all 3 are reasonably willing shooters. 

All told, that should be worth the trade-off of adding an elite big man to this roster.
