The Dallas Mavericks acquired both JaVale McGee and Christian Wood in the offseason and have opted to start McGee.

The idea was to have McGee for his defensive abilities and bring Wood off the bench at both the 4 and 5 for an offensive boost.

Wood has fulfilled his end of the bargain, but unfortunately, McGee has looked a step slow in 2022-23.
