Why The Dallas Mavericks Do The Deal
Admittedly, it’s been a few years since D’Angelo Russell made an All-Star appearance.
On the other hand, the Mavericks are already a one All-Star team. The question here isn’t whether they’re adding an All-Star or not. They’d need to part with a significantly larger package than this in order to do so. The question is whether Russell is a passable secondary ball-handler.
The answer is a resounding “yes”. Russell is particularly proficient in the pick-and-roll. It isn’t difficult to imagine him developing chemistry with Christian Wood in those sets.
Meanwhile, Russell isn’t an elite floor-spacer, but he connects from distance with enough frequency to compliment Doncic.
