Acquiring Russell Westbrook may not be the obvious solution to the problems we just identified. If you’re wondering exactly what we’re thinking right now, we don’t blame you. Hear us out. 

The Wolves may be forced to stagger Towns and Gobert at times. If Towns’ perimeter defense proves to be a liability at times, he may be splitting his minutes between the 4 and the 5. In that event, Westbrook could be a perfect match for him. 

This would have to be the moment that Westbrook transitioned into a sixth man. Putting him alongside Gobert makes for disastrous spacing.

On the other hand, Westbrook could still find ample minutes both alongside Towns, and anchoring the offense when both Towns and Anthony Edwards are resting.
