Of course, the Timberwolves wouldn’t solve the Lakers’ problems for no benefit. In fact, they may potentially have problems of their own this season. 

We’re not saying their newfound Karl-Anthony Towns / Rudy Gobert pairing can’t work. In fact, it’s got a high ceiling. On the other hand, there is a low floor here as well. 

After all, the Wolves landed Gobert to off-set Towns’ defensive deficiencies. That makes sense in a vacuum, but Towns still has to defend. Now, he might be stuck defending the perimeter on a nightly basis. 

If the preseason was any indication, that could be a problem.
