Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal
We’ve already given it away. The Bulls do this deal to improve their rim protection.
That’s a badly needed upgrade. Meanwhile, Turner provides that interior defense without significantly compromising their floor spacing. He’s not as reliable a shooter as Vucevic, but he isn’t so far off, either.
More than anything, this deal modernizes the Bulls. Few teams these deals run a lot of offense through the low block. With Turner in the starting lineup, the Bulls can keep the ball in the hands of their primary playmakers, and let them cook.
Of course, that low-block offense could be more appealing in the second unit. Following this trade, the Bulls could designate Vucevic as their sixth man.

In all likelihood, he’d be in the running for Sixth Man of the Year. Vucevic may be a flawed player, but he’s still a very good one.
In short, this deal should improve the Bulls in 2022-23. What does it do for the Pacers?
