Why The Memphis Grizzlies Do The Deal
We’ve basically already told you why the Grizzlies would do this deal. Mikal Bridges may be the best 3-and-D wing in the NBA. He’s the type of player every contender needs.
With that said, whether the Grizzlies will be contending in 2022-23 remains to be seen. With Jaren Jackson Jr. slated to miss a large chunk of the season, doing so may be difficult. Luckily, there’s always next season.
Assuming Jackson Jr.’s health, this deal makes the Grizzlies dangerous in 2023-24. Between Bridges and Jackson Jr., they could easily challenge for the best defense in the league. Meanwhile, with Ja Morant running the offense, they’ll be a safe bet to produce points as well.
Perhaps this is a long shot. The Suns have been very serious title contenders for the last two seasons. It’s probably more likely that they’ll try to work through their issues and forge ahead in 2022-23.
