Why The Washington Wizards Do The Deal
If there is a list of NBA teams that look like they are primed to have to tear down their roster to enter a rebuild, the Washington Wizards would be a mainstay.
Bradley Beal has remained loyal to the Wizards organization, and they have embraced him as their clear-cut franchise cornerstone. He not only received a supermax contract in the offseason but he also was granted a no-trade clause.
Building around Beal is the clear focus, even if the ultimate result will continue to be a mediocre product on the floor for the home crowd at Capital One Arena in Washington D.C.
There are reasons to be skeptical of Kristaps Porzinigs as a worthy co-star for Beal given he is limited as a shot creator. While the spacing afforded by his stretch-five skill-set is nice, he isn’t reliable when the offense is slowed down and it comes to making a tough play.
