If there is a way to give a sign that it’s time to let go, the Washington Wizards need to be shown that when it comes to building around three-time NBA All-Star Bradley Beal.
Beal, 29, has only helped contribute to one playoff series win during his NBA career. During that run, he wasn’t even the Wizards’ top player given it was John Wall. The lack of postseason success over the last decade hasn’t inspired a rebuild.
Instead, Beal remains the clear franchise cornerstone for the Wizards, and the commitment to attempting to swim against the current in the stream of mediocrity continues.
To further this attempt, the Wizards completed a midseason trade to acquire Kristaps Porzingis from the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans. Porzingis is currently slotted to be the team’s co-star.
