New York Knicks Receive: G/F Josh Richardson, 2025 First-Round Pick (ATL via SAS)
San Antonio Spurs Receive: G/F Cam Reddish, G Immanuel Quickley
Of course, some would argue that these days, teams are overvaluing first-round picks.
It’s a debate that has strong arguments on both sides. Detractors see first-round picks as no more than “magic beans”. Why trade established, proven players for the opportunity to select unestablished, unproven ones?
On the other hand, the draft is a gamble. It can cost you, but it can also pay extreme dividends. Trading a fringe starter for, say, the 25th pick may look bad initially, but if the player you select ends up looking like a steal, it could look fantastic in hindsight.
Realistically, it comes down to your appetite for risk. Front offices that like to roll the dice will always target first-round picks in transactions.
