Why The Los Angeles Lakers Do The Deal
In stark contrast, the Lakers should accept this deal if it’s on the table tomorrow.
We already know Westbrook is a poor fit here. Much of that comes down to spacing. His inability to consistently hit threes was the primary issue. This deal has the Lakers exchanging him for plenty of spacing.
After all, Bertans may be on a bad contract, and Wood may have trouble fitting into a team, but if there’s one thing both men do, it’s space the floor. Suddenly, the Lakers could have an elite shooter at the 4 spot for the entire game.
Furthermore, Reggie Bullock is a strong 3-and-D wing in his own right. All told, this deal would have the Lakers going back to running their offense through James and Anthony Davis.
