Why The Washington Wizards Do The Deal 

For the Wizards, this is a straight-up talent grab. DeMar DeRozan is a better basketball player than Kristaps Porzingis. 

In fact, he’d be the most dynamic playmaker the Wizards had alongside Bradley Beal since prime John Wall. It’s not hard to picture the offensive synergy between these two.

DeRozan would function as the primary ball-handler. allowing Beal to operate as a traditional off-guard. The last time he did that, he led the NBA in scoring with Russell Westbrook running point. 

Moreover, the Wizards may not need Porzingis. Daniel Gafford may not have his upside, but he’s a solid rim-running / rim-protecting big man. At this point, he’s worthy of a starting role.
