Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal
Sometimes, fans overrate the importance of a team’s “timeline”. Sure, having a group of players in the same age cohort is preferable, but it’s not absolutely necessary, either.
With that being said: the Bulls might want to get their roster on the same timeline.
DeRozan, again, is 33. Meanwhile, Zach LaVine is 27. Otherwise, this roster is a mixed bag: Nikola Vucevic is 31, Patrick Williams is 21 – you get the picture. The Bulls are all over the place. Bringing in a potential co-star for LaVine who is his age has some benefits.
Of course, it’s not the only reason the Bulls should covet Porzingis. Last year, this was a poor defensive squad.

Porzingis is a significantly better rim protector than Vucevic. He’d slide into his starting spot and push Vucevic into a sixth-man role. Moreover, the two could share limited minutes, as they both space the floor.
This deal may not improve the Bulls in 2022-23, but it should extend their window to build a winner around LaVine. What does it do for the Wizards?
