Chicago Bulls Receive: F/C Kristaps Porzingis 

Washington Wizards Receive: G/F DeMar DeRozan 

We’re going to try to justify the logic of this deal. What we’re not going to do is tell you that it wouldn’t be surprising: In fact, it would shock the NBA world. 

After all, the Bulls just acquired DeRozan last summer. They certainly would have to be satisfied with his performance: again, he just clued up a career year. This club may have been disappointed with their performance last season, but they couldn’t possibly pin their shortcomings on DeRozan. 

Meanwhile, the Wizards only acquired Porzingis at last year’s trade deadline. He and Bradley Beal have had precious few reps together.

Surely, they must believe in the potential of their new tandem – why acquire Porzingis in the first place?

On the other hand, trades surprise us all the time. Just like an individual player’s trajectory, the NBA trade market is unpredictable.
