Dallas Mavericks
Utah Jazz Receive: F Davis Bertans, G/F Josh Green
Dallas Mavericks Receive: G Mike Conley
Of course, we didn’t say that the Jazz set the market favorably for themselves with the Bogdanovic deal. This may have been the one trade they made this offseason where they got less than the expected value in return.
After all, many observers expected them to receive a first-round pick in exchange for Bogdanovic. If they couldn’t get one for him, they’re not going to get one for Conley. He’s older, and a more significant defensive liability.
With that in mind, this could be a quality return for Utah. If they’re interested in bringing quality young players into the fold, Green is an interesting addition. He’s got an extremely high motor and makes hustle plays on a nightly basis. If he can start connecting from long-range on a regular basis, he could be one of the better 3-and-D wings in the NBA.
Meanwhile, Conley may have his deficiencies, but he’d still be a nice addition to these Dallas Mavericks. He’ll space the floor when Luka Doncic has the ball, and provide some secondary playmaking when he doesn’t.

All told, he’d likely become an instant starter on this team, allowing Spencer Dinwiddie to carry the second unit.
This deal does have the Jazz absorbing Bertans’ problematic contract. Who cares? Based on the moves they’ve made this summer, they’re bracing for a rebuilding process that ought to run at least the length of his contract.
