In the NBA, transactions don’t happen in a vacuum. They happen within a market.
As such, any trade that occurs impacts potential future trades. Trades set a precedent. After all, nobody wants to be the general manager who gets less value for their guy than another general manager got for his. When you make a trade, you contribute towards setting the same market that future trades get made in.
With that in mind, the Utah Jazz sure have been controlling their share of the market this offseason.
