Why The Sacramento Kings Do The Deal
Look. We understand that the Kings aren’t likely to make this deal. Here’s our counterpoint – they should.
Yes, the Kings just acquired Sabonis at last year’s trade deadline. Unfortunately, his fit alongside star point guard De’Aaron Fox is questionable at best. Personally, we’ve got at least two major questions about it.
The first one pertains to floor spacing. These guys are both weak shooters and strong playmakers. When one has the ball, what will the other do to compliment him? The other pertains to pace.
Fox is perhaps the fastest player in the league, whereas Sabonis prefers to grind out half-court sets. We’re struggling to see this pair carry the Kings to a much-needed playoff appearance.
Meanwhile, Turner’s floor spacing will open up driving and passing lanes for Fox. Of course, so will Hield’s – he’s one of the most lethal three-point threats in the league. The Kings should welcome his potentially fated return if this deal is on the table.

Cutting ties with the Sabonis/Fox pairing would sting. In fact, it would sting so badly that the Kings probably won’t entertain it. With that said, if they can broker a trade to make for a more optimal fit, they ought to consider it.
