Why The Washington Wizards Do The Deal

Having just established the importance of pairing Simmons with a stretch big, let us say this: there’s a reason the Timberwolves were invited to this party.

Landing Simmons at Porzingis’ expense is senseless if the Wizards don’t replace Simmons. Daniel Gafford is good, but he doesn’t shoot – he and Simmons will crowd each other’s space in the dunker’s spot. On the other hand, Reid is a perfect compliment to the jumbo playmaker.

In fact, Reid perfectly demonstrates how much more common that 3-and-D skillset has gotten for big men. He possesses it, and he hasn’t even gotten a starting opportunity in Minnesota. In this scenario, he’d get exactly that in the nation’s capital.

Moreover, this whole roster should complement Simmons. Bradley Beal, as an elite off-ball threat and secondary ball-handler, is his perfect co-star. Otherwise, this roster is littered with wings who space the floor and can defend multiple positions. All of them will fit nicely with Simmons.
