The Knicks are well-structured to take whichever route they choose. This organization has plenty of moveable contracts, some interesting young players, and an immense collection of draft capital.
By contrast, the Bulls are relatively inflexible at the moment. Unless they’re willing to make a big move, they don’t have the assets to improve on their current core.
