Why The Dallas Mavericks Do The Deal
In essence, we already told you why the Mavericks do the deal: they need a secondary playmaker. The real question is whether Fultz is more equipped for that role than Spencer Dinwiddie.
Consider this a bet that he is. Fultz is still young with ample room to improve. On the other hand, the veteran Dinwiddie is likely a finished product.
Again, not a criticism – Dinwiddie is a good player. Still, Fultz has flashed enough of the raw talent that saw him selected with the first pick in the draft that we feel comfortable in gambling that he’ll be surpassing Dinwiddie soon.
Moreover, they can co-exist. Anyone who told you there isn’t room for more than two playmakers on an NBA roster has not been following the league very closely.

Realistically, Fultz would take the starting spot, while Dinwiddie would slide into a sixth-man role. As a microwave scorer, we actually think it would suit him quite well.
Should this deal do the same for the Magic?
