Of course, if any franchise has been struggling with the NBA’s unpredictability lately, it’s the Nets.
Firstly, they’ve been rostering perhaps the most unpredictable superstar in the NBA in Kyrie Irving. In fact, his refusal to receive the COVID-19 vaccine kept him off the floor for much of the 2021-22 season. Some would argue that it almost tore the Nets apart in the process.
It does feel like James Harden edged his way out of town for that reason. After all, he forced his way out of Houston in search of more talented teammates. Having one of his most talented partners at home was never part of his plan.
The fallout that ensued almost drove Durant out of town as well.

Luckily for the Nets, it didn’t. With that said, it appeared as if the organization’s willingness to shop his friend Kyrie Irving may have led to his discontent. If that’s the case, the Nets could only afford to trade Irving if they got an offer they couldn’t refuse.
