Why The Brooklyn Nets Do The Deal
As unreliable as Kyrie Irving has been in recent years, Anthony Davis hasn’t been a player to count on either. With that said, unlike in Irving’s case, Davis’ absences have been entirely out of his control.
Injuries have kept the former MVP candidate off the floor far too often over the past few seasons. For that reason, this is a risky deal for the Nets even beyond the fact that it might further upset Durant. Dare they even consider it?
Frankly, they’d have to. This organization is clearly tired of Irving’s antics. Davis won’t cause the same drama. Furthermore, if he does get his body right, he’s probably a more impactful player than Irving is capable of being.
That’s not a knock on Kyrie Irving. He’s arguably the greatest ball-handler in the history of the sport, and his ability to hit tough shots is well-documented.

Still, Anthony Davis’ two-way ability, when healthy, makes him a dominant force. Few players in the game can impact their team on both ends of the floor as well as Davis when his body is right.
Throw in elite sharpshooter Buddy Hield, and the Nets would have to at least entertain this proposal.
