Of course, the Utah Jazz have already brokered a blockbuster trade this summer. In fact, that trade is one of the main reasons it’s widely assumed that Mitchell could be available.
The Jazz moved Rudy Gobert to the Minnesota Timberwolves. While they received players for their star big man, none of them are capable of improving the team in comparison to Gobert.
On the other hand, the four first-round picks they received for him represent quite the haul.
Such a haul, in fact, that some see it as having broken the NBA’s trade market. No team wants to get fleeced, and the Jazz’ Gobert trade set a new bar for what kind of value teams should be looking for in exchange for a star player.

With that in mind, surely the Jazz can’t afford to get fleeced for Mitchell. They’ll need to be getting at least comparable value to what they got for Gobert in order to justify moving him.
